The mythical Route 40 extends for nearly 5,000 km from salt flats of the Puna in the north to the Strait of Magellan in the south. It is considered the longest road in Argentina and passes through 11 provinces: Santa Cruz, Chubut, Río Negro, Neuquén, San Juan, Mendoza, La Rioja, Catamarca, Tucumán, Salta and Jujuy. It runs parallel to the Andean cordillera and you can drive for hours without seeing other cars.
